And some of these too-many options are just too gimmicky. On the other hand, the W760 is filled with some useful and fascinating (if sometimes useless and/or redundant) functions and features. The question is, do the gimmicks overwhelm the W760's usefulness?

I bought my phone in November 2009. Everything was fine until August 2010. Then some problems showed up. When receiving a call, I slide it open, and shortly after, it drops the call when the lock re-activates prematurely. The lock never activated before during a call, so it seems the software is going funny. I checked for updates on the SE website, but there are none. Sometimes when I slide it open, it doesn't unlock. I have to re-open it or punch the unlock sequence. This may be happening because it now has trouble maintaining signal. I'm with Rogers and they have good signal quality every where in Toronto. So I have to assume the problem is with the phone. I have added the search-for-signal function to my shortcuts things have gotten so bad. The software also seems to go squishy when the battery is low. This is too bad, because I like the phone. Especially the Walkman function. I don't have a music player and the quality of the sound is excellent. The screen is clear and bright, but I bought a plastic cover for protection - I recommend them. Less

I had this phone for just over a year and now it will not turn on. soo many features and a sleek design pulled me towards this phone over any other at the time of purchase. However, after putting the device through its paces, I have found that: -The screen leaks dust...and will break after a year! woop! -The keypad cracks (although I am a heavy texter) -The speakers are not very good -The call quality leaves something to be desired (this is not a phone you want if you live in a spotty area like i do!) -(on Rogers) Service will sometimes completely cut off and the phone will have to be restarted to reconnect. -Navigation is quite sluggish (even when not running multiple apps) -Plugging it into the charger/headphones sometimes doesn't work -The phone will restart randomly -(on Rogers) it is impossible to change the "up" toggle to do anything other than open the non-functioning GPS -Paint chips off I will say that I really do like a few things about this phone: -I love texting on Sony phones (purely for the software) -The camera is decent -The screen is large and vivid (although not durable) -I still find myself attracted to the design Hopefully this helps you with your phone purchase. My phone was purchased from the Source on Rogers Pay as You Go for $100 plus tax. The phone should come with the following: Sony Ericsson w760a phone USB data transfer cable Media Transfer CD (Not needed, because you can just drag and drop media files) Charger Stereo Headset (With separate connector so you can plug in your regularly used headphones) Instruction manual 2 Gigabyte Memory Stick Micro memory card (With adapter) I am virtually in love with my newly purchased Sony Ericsson w760a mobile phone. Everything works like a charm. Great Media Player (Music, Videos and Photos) Excellent call quality, as expected from Rogers. Clear and crisp display as well. There is only one con that I have experienced with this phone, and that is with most of the pre downloaded stuff on the phone already, all service provider stuff that can’t be deleted. It only leaves about 20 megabytes to hold all your media. Good news is that it comes with a 2 gigabyte card so you can expand your memory, if you’re a media lover such as me. First of all the slide feature and automatic key lock is perfect for those who keep their phone in their pocket and don’t want to worry about accidental key presses. Also, despite what other people may say, the buttons stay in place, and work properly. MEDIA: Music must be in .mp3 format Videos must be in MP4 format and Photos must be in JPEG or JPG format If you need to download a video converter go to http://www.abcmedia.tv/ and select ABC 3GP/MP4 Converter (Third one down from the top of the page) The media is very well organized, letting you scroll through all your photos videos and music with the touch of a button (On the left hand side with the phone facing upwards) The media player also lets you listen to music in the background while using other phone applications. The photos can be viewed as a slideshow, and you can also set the slideshow to moods (Happy or sad, etc.) The media section can be viewed in landscape (My personal favorite), portrait, or automatic, depending which way you turn your phone. The music player lets you create playlists and also you can set your music for different moods. As well you can add one specific song to more than one playlist, if that’s your thing. Lastly, about the music player, you can use your headphones or if you want to be the life of the party on the bus or subway, the built in speakers deliver fantastic, clear bass filled sound. CAMERA: The camera is a 3.2 megapixel (Which is great for a phone) and it takes crystal clear pictures, with different settings that you can use (Night Mode, Multiple shots, etc.) It also has about 15 fun frames that you can use to have fun with your friends. I guarantee the camera portion alone will give you hours of entertainment and a lifetime of memories. The best thing about the media to me is that you can edit and crop photos to use them as screensavers and wallpapers. For instance, a picture you take with the camera or any photo you add to your media; you can zoom in and out and move the picture in any direction; if you want to get one face out of a group of twelve. Or if you want to save a certain part of a scenery picture. Honestly as many photos as I have on my memory card, I can crop photos all day and night long. DATA TRANSFER: Data transfer is very easy, as the phone comes with its own USB cable. Very handy when you transfer as much media as I do; every section of media have it own folder, and you can add extra folders for the ultra organized. OTHER FEATURES: Other phone features such as the calendar and alarm clock work flawlessly. The settings are easy to adjust and you can create shortcuts for quick access to your most often used features such as Contacts, Camera, etc. OVERALL: Overall, for a Sony Ericsson product, this is as good as it gets as far as cellular phones are concerned. I would highly recommend this phone to anybody who is looking for a media player and a small, compact cellular phone in one. IT’S WORTH THE MONEY… REALLY! 4.8 out of 5 stars. Less

I have had this phone for a couple months now and i have to say that the phone is really cool but when it comes to functionality its terrible. The phones design is very sleek, easy to use and it comes with a very clear screen and a 3.2 MP camera which i believe is higher than most other phones. It has a lot of great features, such as zoom for the camera, an animated background and the one i find most important is where u can have several different tasks or windows open and u can scroll through them sort of like the task bar on your computer. The issue with this is all of its menus and screens can be sluggish at times. The main feature you may immediately notice it lacks is flash for the camera. As for gadgets and fun stuff its about a 50-50 split. Half of the stuff it has or can do is necessary or fun to use and the other half is just a waste. The Walkman works well and i find the layout simple yet good looking but as for the video player i have yet to be able to figure out how to put videos on it, be them music video or homemade in any format none of them would go on the phone. Last but not least the battery life of the phone is not too bad, it lasts a couple days for me and i do text a lot which would eat up the battery life quicker than normal. Now all phones will have your features and small issues that will give u a love hate relationship with the phone but i have had this phone for a few months and i have taken good care of it because I'm stuck on a 3 year plan and i needed to make it last but even after babying the phone its almost garbage already and ill explain why. The physical condition of the phone is already deteriorating. I immediately bought a screen protector for the phone so as for screen durability i am not sure. The raised silver divider between the buttons and the screen's finish is wearing off rather quickly and the finish on the black stripe on the back is wearing off too but really that's not that big of a problem. As for the buttons, the button pad on the front is really loose and i expect it to fall off shortly and the plastic around the number pad on the slide out part is cracked twice front pushing the #7 button. The functionality of the phone after these few months is what really makes this phone garbage. Already the screen on the phone will constantly turn to static when i open it. If that doesn't happen it will constantly freeze and eventually shut down for a while. The phone freezes a lot actually in many different ways. The phone, even when locked, will constantly turn on the GPS navigator on its own or even the rogers music player. Both of which connect to the internet and really slow down the phone. This is insanely aggravating when u are typing out a text and suddenly these applications start up in mid sentence. Another big issue it has is the phone will continue to show full bars, because i am in a place with full service of course, but the phone status at the top will say "No access to network" so I will have full service but the phone becomes useless at the same time and will not send or receive calls or texts. This sometimes happens every ten minutes for an hour and it does happen at least everyday. The only way to fix it is to turn off the phone and sometimes even take out the battery. So every ten minutes i have to restart my phone...actually while writing this review its happened a few times. There are many other little glitches that seem to come and go at times but those are the main ones. Before even buying this phone myself, i looked up reviews and such and there wasn't really anything to say about it but that the phone was good, thus the reason i bought it. But i have used the phone just as you would any other phone, unlike these review people who unbox it and stare at it and i have to say that it may be cool but its not worth your money, buy a phone that's going to last you. They don't break like they did with the other one! Your screen saver can be a slideshow of your pictures... really cool!!! Very nice slide. Not a cheap crudy slide... very nice! When you slide it up in the back it has a very nice gold color... Very cool! Pretty clear talking. pretty clear. Con: Camera does not have a flash! I don't think it has a zoom. When you buy it with &tat it does not come with headphones. That sucks! You can't make your music into your ringtone. But you can record it then make it your ring tone. Using experience: 3 weeks Greatest phone... I love it so much, one of the best i've ever had. If your a teen it's made for YOU!!! Great for Pictures when your with you buddies and stuff. Way better then the other walkman... Has way better features! When your playing a game, if it's racing or other stuff you can tilt the phone to the left and the car will drive left, if you turn it right it'll turn right... It's awsome... No zoom on the camera i think.. no flash but great camers. 3.2 mega pixel!! ALL IN ALL... THE BEST PHONE I'VE HAD!!! Less
