The Asus Memo Pad 8 is an Android-powered tablet featuring an 8 inch, LCD touchscreen, a quad-core 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory - expandable to 64 via microSD, 5MP primary camera, and a non-removable battery rated at up to 9 hours of multimedia use.
Its' display offers 1280x800 resolution, which translates to about 188 pixels per inch. Reviewers agreed that the display performed well within its resolution limits. According to CNET, “It's clear and bright enough, with plenty of space for apps and entertainment. The touch screen is fast and responsive.”
The primary 5 megapixel camera can record in 720p, and a secondary 1.2MP camera can handle selfies and video chat. The tablet also comes with Asus’s user interface, which reviewers found useful without overwhelming the Android OS. According to AndroidCentral, “ASUS continues with its custom UI, tweaking things without going overboard. Its custom quick-app launcher remains as stylish and useful as ever.”
Overall reviewers found this tablet to be a clear improvement over its predecessor, and capable at performing the basics. However, they were not wowed by either the specs or feature set.
