Mobile Syrup

Very capable, even for the inactive

from Mobile Syrup

The Galaxy Watch is a worthy purchase for anyone looking for a lightweight smartwatch that isn't interested in the Apple Watch. Similar to the Gear Sport, the Active is a capable watch designed for everybody, regardless of how 'active' they are.

Small, stylish, and affordable

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is the best smartwatch Samsung has ever made, yes, even better than the more expensive Samsung Galaxy Watch. It's comfortable, stylish, and the range of features offered are useful.

In addition to the typical package, the Galaxy Active also comes with neat extras, like the stress measurement that uses heart rate tracking and variance calculations to send you warnings when you should relax. However, as I said in this review, this feature isn’t necessarily accurate, albeit it’s nice to have it around. All in all, there’s not much to complain about the Galaxy Watch Active, and despite being a more affordable version of the Galaxy Watch, I think it can very well be considered an alternative too.

If you want a smartwatch that's small and light, but doesn't scrimp on features, then there's a lot to like here. Samsung's software still needs some refining in our eyes and it clearly hasn't delivered on that promise of blood pressure monitoring. But if you can overlook those shortcomings and can focus on the price and what you're getting for that money, this is a smartwatch well worth your time.

DC Rainmaker

A great watch for an Android based users

With the features and Spotify support, there’s nothing else at this price point (or anywhere near it).

Basic doesn't mean bad

from Engadget

The Galaxy Watch Active is basically the flagship Galaxy Watch boiled down into a basic, sport-friendlier body. It loses the rotating bezel, has a much smaller face and shorter battery life, but otherwise offers everything you’d expect from Samsung’s higher-end smartwatch at a cheaper $200.

Mashable

A great, feature-packed smartwatch ... if you use Android

from Mashable

At $199, the Galaxy Watch Active is a really affordable option. Yes, it doesn't have cellular connectivity, but as far as feature-packed smartwatches go, the Galaxy Watch Active has a lot going for it. And it's a particularly great companion device for your wrist if you own an Android phone.

The Tizen-based Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, as a smaller alternative to the big, bulky smartwatches we usually see, is a compelling piece of hardware. It provides a lot of the same features as larger wearables and even adds a few new ones like blood pressure monitoring. The problem is that the activity tracking is way off and is in desperate need of re-tuning before this watch becomes a contender.

It’s got a good-looking screen with an always-on option, its automatic workout tracking is spot-on, its battery lasts for about two days on average, so you can easily track your sleeps, and you can easily swap bands with quick release. The biggest downside for us was the haptic feedback that did not feel great and we also did miss the rotating bezel as it’s hard to tap and swipe on such a small screen. None of these, however, are a deal-breaker in our view.
