Android Central

Rugged design with plenty of fitness tracking features

from Android Central

The TicWatch S2 is a decent smartwatch in its own right. You get a sizeable 1.39-inch screen along with a host of fitness tracking features, and the MIL-STD-810G rating makes it resistant to the elements. That said, Wear OS continues to be full of glitches, and that ruins an otherwise excellent product.

This is certainly an Android Wear device to consider.

It's incredibly cheap for what you are getting

The other activity tracking features work really well, and the design is sturdy and well suited for active lifestyle. It is hard to ignore that it is pretty much the only full smartwatch with these features at that price, and that is insane.

Android Guys

The best budget Wear OS watch

from Android Guys

The TicWatch S2 isn’t a bad device. I think if you’re looking to get into the Wear OS world, you should spend as little as possible to do so. At $179, the TicWatch S2 fits that bill, even if it does miss out some features like NFC for mobile payments.

A perfect buy for those looking for a smartwatch

Mobvoi have really got a great watch on their hands with the Ticwatch S2. It may have last generation’s chips (SD2100) but it has somehow been optimised extremely well. It is light, it looks good and has a decent waterproof rating of 5 ATM, it is rugged with a ruggedness rating, has built in GPS and heart rate monitoring and is affordable.

Doesn't quite live up to its sporty ambitions, but it's still great value overall

from TrustedReviews

If you’re looking for a big, bold and budget-friendly smartwatch, the TicWatch S2 is a solid choice. It isn’t quite as sports-ready as I’d like, however. Next to the TicWatch E2, it feels like you’re really just paying a slight premium for the more rugged build rather than any extra sports suitability.

The $180 price is not bad, but you need to figure out what you want this wearable for. An affordable smartwatch that packs premium features

from Softpedia

The TicWatch line of smartwatches has improved surprisingly in the last few years, and I really think that Mobvoi won’t just stop here. The TicWatch E2 and the S2 are living proof that the company needs to continue investing in more advanced devices, and by the looks of the things, major improvements are on their way.

Affordable Wear OS, upgraded

from Android Authority

The lack of NFC stings, but the S2 makes up for it with a robust design and that highly desirable MIL-STD rating. You’d be hard pressed to find a better option if you’re looking for an ultra-durable, Wear OS-powered fitness smartwatch on a budget.

AndroidPIT

A great first smartwatch

from AndroidPIT

I think that for the low price at which this smartwatch is offered, it is an excellent candidate to end up on the wrist of many users, just as it happened with the first generation. If you are looking for a tech gift or maybe your first smartwatch and don't want to spend a fortune, the TicWatch S2 is the best choice at the moment.
