While the Tarah Pro may sound slightly richer, I actually got a better fit from the Tarah and liked its sound better as a result. With decent clarity and meaty enough bass, the Tarah's sound should satisfy most runners and gym users. It works just fine as an everyday headphone.

I'd prefer these got closer to 8 hours, but ~6 hours isn't terrible. More importantly, they're simple to use and deliver a great music listening experience whether your trying to forget the world or charge vigorously through it.

It's no fun charging multiple times per week, especially since people sometimes remember right before they're headed out the door. Assuming you can live with that though, the Tarah may be perfect, especially since they're a whole lot cheaper than anything Apple makes.

Our initial impressions are pretty good, such that if that the quality holds up by the time we complete a full review, we might even recommend them over the X4 for some people. Partly this is because the headphones are nearly identical, especially visually. In fact the only thing that separates them in that respect the inline remote, which on the Tarah is closer to rectangular while having rounded edges and more stylish buttons. It feels better in the hand, especially since you can tell the volume-up and volume-down buttons by touch and not just position.

Jaybird positions the $100 Tarah as an entry-level offering for people trying Bluetooth audio for the first time, and while they are cheaper than the company's flagship X4, it's not by much. I'm just not sure who the Tarah are for. To save $30, you're sacrificing sound quality, battery life, and accessory selection. Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
Jaybird has taken almost everything that makes the X series great, including great sound and IPX7 water resistance, and brought it to a more palatable price point.
