Blends music with the world around you

from The Verge

Sony certainly tried something new and out-of-the-ordinary with the Ear Duos. They’ve got all the hallmarks of a weird, quirky Sony gadget. But that doesn’t mean they’re good. If you need awareness of surroundings, I’d recommend AirPods or many other wireless earbuds that have a semi-open design and let in a fair amount of outside noise.

Funky design but uncomfortable

from Ausdroid

The Xperia Ear Duo are a strange device for me. I’ve come to really enjoy using them, they stay in the ear really well, I’m a big fan of the open ear design that lets the sounds of the world in, but there’s a few too many issues to really recommend them.

Good Gear Guide

A different, smarter, kind of earbud

from Good Gear Guide

Where other true wireless earbuds are about audio isolation, the Xperia Ear Duo are about audio synthesis. They’re a different, smarter kind of earbud, for a different, smarter kind of customer.

Perhaps the strangest headset we've ever tested

from TechRadar

Sony's Xperia Ear Duo is one of the strangest audio products we've ever tested. More hearable than headphones, the Xperia Ear Duo is an odd device built for a particular person. The design is strange, but the smart features will suit some distinct people.

Wareable

Sony wraps useful smarts inside of a bonkers-looking hearable

from Wareable

You have to applaud Sony for trying to do something different with the Xperia Ear Duo. It built a hearable that could never be accused of simply trying to blend in with the crowd. It's tried to find an answer for people who don't want to drown out the world but also want to listen to their music

Some people will see the appeal, however, and the Xperia Ear Duo are pretty unique in what they offer. The inclusion of Google Assistant, however, makes these a good deal more useful than they might have once been.

Alphr

Sony’s crazy new wire-free earbuds

from Alphr

There are two problems with the Sony Xperia Ear Duo. First, sound quality, inevitably, suffers in noisy environments. The other issue is the price, an awful lot to pay for a pair of wireless earphones, even ones as innovative as these.
