What the Critics Are Saying...

The Xperia 10 Plus isn’t a bad phone. It’s quick, well built, and has a nice screen, and decent cameras. It’s a better effort from Sony compared to many of its recent phones. But would we buy it? On balance, probably not. The sheer size of the phone – a direct result of the 21:9 aspect ratio – is en...

The Xperia 10 Plus isn’t a bad phone. It’s quick, well built, and has a nice screen, and decent cameras. It’s a better effort from Sony compared to many of its recent phones. But would we buy it? On balance, probably not. The sheer size of the phone – a direct result of the 21:9 aspect ratio – is enough to put us off. But, if Sony can get this same tech into a smaller, more orthodox phone, we’d be very interested.

Feels great in your hand, but the camera disappoints

from Digital Trends

The 21:9 aspect ratio screen is interesting, and makes the phone thin and highly usable, but the lack of video content available for it, and disappointing camera performance doesn’t help boost its appeal. Shorter than preferred battery life, and a price that brings more superior devices into view, makes it hard to recommend.

Sony has come up with a clever idea in providing a 21:9 aspect ratio screen to deliver a fuller video experience in a smallish form factor. This helps the Xperia 10 Plus (and the smaller Xperia 10) stand out from the crowd. But there's really no reason to give a handset designed for video consumption just 64GB of internal storage, or to equip it with a single, lacklustre speaker when two much better ones would be more useful. Battery life could be better, too.

A solid mid-range smartphone, but it’s too expensive

from TrustedReviews

The Xperia 10 Plus is on paper a solid mid-range phablet, featuring an entertainment optimised screen, solid camera setup and reasonably clean Android install. But issues with its performance and battery life impeded its overall appeal. There are also better value smartphones available with similar specs that cost way less than £350.

Good Housekeeping

A great smartphone for watching movies and TV shows

Good Housekeeping

A great phone for movie fans on a budget, with a display that's ideal for playing video. Simple to use, the camera makes a good effort (except in low light) and the good battery life and slightly increased speed over its baby brother make this a great buy.

A so-so processor for the price and plastic build narrows the crowd who will find the Sony Xperia 10 Plus the phone they love the most at £350. It’s for the gang of cinephiles who don’t think the magic of film is lost on the small screen.

A longer screen that stretches its luck

from TechRadar

The Sony Xperia 10 Plus is an intriguing device with its 21:9 aspect ratio, but while a novel screen size is beneficial in some situations, it’s not as useful for movie streaming – despite that being the entire point of the longer screen.
