I'm pleasently suprised

I just got this phone through Koodo, on the tab so it cost 25$ Not bad since there is no 3 year contract. I almost did not get it because of the expert review I read here. I was particularly concered that the review said there was no auto delete for the inbox. My phone has this feature. Also the review stated that 2 of the navigation keys did the same thing and couldn't be changed. I don't think I can change them but no 2 do the same thing. Overall I'm really happy so far, I'm glad I got it. I plan to use it only for text and talk so I can't comment on the browser. For the price I think its a really good value!! Less

^ hey, Heather? i was wondering, i was thinking of purchasing the samsung elevate, i was wondering if you would know how many text messages you can have on the phone? how much will the memory allow?

Where is the auto delete? I turned the auto delete on with my phone, but the problem is that it never auto deleted... There is no point on having an auto delete if it didn't work.

In your messaging options you can set it to auto delete oldest messages when its full, or within a certain time frame.

I love this phone...but i don't like the fact that the phone volume only controls your calls and not your messages. And I can't find anywhere where you can lower the volume for your alerts. Does anyone know how to do this?

I also have the problem of the auto-delete not working, whether I set it to oldest when full, 1 weeks or 2, it starts giving me the full inbox message. I even have a memory card in there, I can't find a way to have them save there instead of the SIM.

im thinkin bout gettin this phone, does anyone know if it has a seperate inbox and outbox..? or if you can see all your messages from one person and messages that youve sent to that person at the same time.?

I am thinking of getting the samsung elevate it looks Like a cool phone even though it's not a smartphone I am currently with telus as my carrier and honestly I am still trying to break my parents down to side with Koodo but I hope you have unlimited texting cause I text a lot I also has the LG Optimus One and hate it but I also have my eyes on the nexus s cause it's 300$ in koodo rather than 500$ in telus but it's nice

Not bad but...

There are a lot of things I like about this phone, but for me there are a couple of show stoppers, in particular the fact that it doesn’t do predictive typing, even in T9 mode. It doesn’t attempt to complete a word, just offers a scroll based on what letters you typed so far, which often takes as many keystrokes as if you had type the complete word to start with. And there is no learned function of the words you use most often. The fact that there is no quick resend of the same message to the same person is a real pain too. You can create lots of message templates, but still have to select the recipient each and every time. Finally there is a bug in that you can create (contact) groups but can’t add a contact to one of your new groups, only to one of the factory groups. OTOH the sound quality is quite good and the keyboard surprisingly good for as small as it is. Less

This is a question about the samsung elevate. I was thinking about buying one but before I buy phones I like to watch reviews on them and there are none that I can find, the appearance of a phone matters a lot to me, not just the outside, but the inside such as font and the menu, etc. Also, how many letters you can put all in one text message, some phones only go up to a maximum 160 or so, I would love for someone to make a video review or even answer my questions. Thanks.

Has anyone had problems with the phone restarting itself randomly on it's own?

I haven't even had this phone a whole day yet and it's already pissing me off. The biggest issue I found right out of the box was the damn keyboard lock. I keep my keyboard closed, and when I receive a text I want to be able to view it without having to go though the whole unlock process or having to open my keyboard. I shouldn't have to unlock or open my keyboard just because I got a text from a friend saying they are waiting downstairs. Second issue is the TINY inbox, with no option to expand it by using part of the SD card you have inserted. The auto delete function is useless. Instead of automatically deleting older unlocked messages and without media in them like my older LG phone does, it decides to WARN me that my inbox is full every time I receive a new text and then delete and then it will decide to delete messages while I'm reading or replying often causing the device to freeze up a few seconds or send me back to the idle screen. There's no option to remove the carrier text from the idle screen or customize it. The phone is missing a lot of basic options one would come to expect from a phone. It needs a firmware update or something to fix these issues. Otherwise don't bother with this phone.

I agree 100% with you Jessica, this phone is not customizable in the least. LG Breeze is a pretty dope phone by comparison, i had one, lost it, and replaced it with the samsung elevate. What a piece of crap. Text messages come in broken into 2 or 3 different messages because words per message on this phone seems to be very low. So, overall frustrating, but it is a nice shaped phone at least. :P To be honest, i can't even find how to change the ring tone! Sound profiles make very little sense.
