The Samsung Soul was first announced on February 8, 2008 and is scheduled for European release in April. The Soul is considered the 'flagship' model in Samsung's 2008 lineup and marks the completion of the ‘Ultra Edition’ series of handsets. In fact, according to Samsung, Soul is an abbreviation of “The Spirit Of Ultra".
Key features of the Samsung Soul include 7.2 Mbps HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion slot, a dedicated Google key for Google search and mail, RSS reader, FM radio with RDS and a built in music player with a digital power amplifier by Bang & Olufsen called ICEpower® which is designed to make audio playback more enjoyable.
The built in camera is a 5.0 megapixel shooter with 4x digital zoom, image stabilization, face recognition and a Power LED flash.
Perhaps the Soul's most unique feature is called Magical Touch. Magical Touch by DaCP™ is a touch control navigation system whereby the indicators change according to the current function. For example, when in music mode, music related icons will light up on the navigation indicators. When in camera mode, camera related icons such as zoom and brightness icons will appear.
All of this comes in a metal clad slider design that, like its ‘Ultra Edition’ siblings, wins in the thickness thinness department, measuring a mere 1.3 cm.

Sure, we got to play with it a little at CTIA (when it was just called the Soul) and were instantly cast under a spell of gadget lust. But really, anytime a manufacturer dubs a product "Magic" we're se...
