It does live up to its mythical name

from PhoneArena

Samsung manages to showcase its nifty own updated TouchWiz interface on the Mythic – it’s nice that AT&T has finally got the updated treatment. There’s plenty to like about the Mythic with its dynamic looking screen which makes viewing videos or browsing web sites pleasurable. Samsung clearly keeps on fine tuning their TouchWiz handsets for AT&T – and the Mythic is sure to continue all the successes previous devices had. This is a well-balanced phone that can cater to a lot of people with its diverse mix of business and fun applications. To an extent, it does live up to its mythical name....

A solid step in the right direction for candybar touchscreen phones

Pros

   - Pretty screen
   - Reasonably thin design
   - Camera (with flash!)
   - 3.5mm headphone jack
   - Intuitively placed mini-dictionary while you type

Cons

   - Underpowered
   - Resistive, mushy touchscreen
   - Nothing that screams "wow"

This phone Suuuuuuuuuuucks!

This is the worst phone ever. It absolutely sucks. If you think it looks amazing, use it for a millisecond and you will see that it is terrible. It is very slow and does not do well when you are getting 2 messages at once. Just dont buy it.

I have missed several calls and sms due to this phone. I would rather use 10$ walmart prepaid phone that this junk. Less

AT&T replaced my awesome Eternity with this phone. Sadly my Eternity was refurbished and after about a year started locking up. I would like to say firstly, that my review is not based on using the data plan (I don't want a phone for internet cuz I think the screens are too SMALL for that!}, but on the phone itself as a basic use phone. At first I didn't like anything about it. It's similar to the Eternity, but has some new things like being able to draw pictures, touchscreen lock button and making specified shapes to open specified (you set them) areas of the phone as well as a shifting background. Ok cool. This phone is a little more lightweight than the Eternity. The camera is a flash camera and is better quality than the Eternity. That's where the pros end...now for the cons... The worst part of this phone is the BATTERY life! I could use my Eternity's battery for about 5 days before having to plug in. With this phone I'm lucky to go more than a day and a half before it dies! And another thing...once the battery hits 3 bars, you come to realize pretty soon that 2 bars is only a couple hours away and then you have maybe 30 minutes after 2 bars that the phone DIES! Another thing I don't like is that the charger does not always connect to the phone. I've been having this problem since I got the phone BRAND NEW about 1 1/2 months ago. This is why I give this phone 2 stars. WHY did AT&T swap out my almost 5 star rating across the board phone (i.e. Eternity) for a phone that barely makes 3 stars (i.e. Mythic)...WHY!?!? Less

HATE IT

from Amazon
I just hate it. It is so bad in texting. It limits you in so many ways. I am actually crazy to get rid of this cellphone. My LG Vu Touch was way better than this phone. Don't waste you're time, there are better options, believe me.

I got this phone after losing my 2nd eternity (which btw I loved. It was a great phone). When I lost my phone, the phone AT&T gave me was the Samsung Mythic(because the Eternity hadn't been made anymore). I thought that because it was the replacement for the Eternity, it would be just like it. Not exactly. With every phone I've had, there has always been some problems but not huge ones; they would freeze or shut off randomly. I've had the Samsung Mythic since April of this year. It would restart itself every now and then but it had happened in past phones so I wasn't very concerned. The more I grew used to it, the more I noticed more frequent restarts. And on T9, it adds words I never have added. Its a pain in the butt trying to type the real word you wanted, and having to search for it. Also, it now restarts itself twice a day, which is so irritating. It always does this when you try to type a message or make a call, and this always happens when I'm trying to make an important call or text. I'm afraid that one day I'll be stuck on the side of the road somewhere, with my car broken down, and my phone restarting (which takes 5-10 minutes to fully restart). So in all, this is a horrible phone, unless you don't mind getting frustrated at something twice a day. Less

The phone rings, you slide the "accept" bar to the right anh heard ...nothing: the call was cut off! This happens so often that you want to smash the phone again the walll anh curse AT&T for selling it! Internet connections; forget about it, it has the speed of computers in the 1960s! The touch screen is a joke, if you give the touch screen on Ipod or Iphone a 10, the samsung mytic gets 2. You cannot find a name in the contact list by scrolling..it would move so fast or in most of cases, not moving at all anh if you press a little harder, it would pick any name anh you have to go back to the contact list to search again! Once you find the person you want to call and you hit "call" you have no idea what the phone would do ! Less

If you like sufing the web on your phone, then this phone is NOT for you. Internet is really slow and half the time it won't connect (even though you have a strong signal). Comes with a lot of apps but none are free (AT&T). Software is buggy. Even the voice dail feature started to malfunction. Exchanging it this weekend. All I wanted was a good quality phone. The features were secondary for me. Since the phone already started to have problems with in six months of buying it, I am giving a low rating. All I wanted was a phone that works! Less

Obviously, if you're used to smartphones (ex: Blackberry, IPhone, Droid) then it's probably not the phone for you. This phone is mostly for people who like to occasionally check their emails, Facebook, weather or latest news and something a little more flashy than a standard slider/flip phone. This is my first touch screen phone and I love it! These are the features that I use the most: Texting - I have unlimited texting (finally) and I love going crazy with texts! The qwerty keyboard when you turn it is great. It's pressure sensitive so I'm happy I'm able to use my nails to text. It took me a week or so to get used to the keyboard (I had a 3 year old slider phone before) but now I'm getting better. Internet - Again, it's mostly for checking small things like emails, Facebook, weather or latest news. Youtube does work, but heavy internet use will drain its battery. Also, the more graphics there are on the screen, then the longer it will be to load. Otherwise, load times are fine. I do occasionally get the "Unexpected Failure" notice but I just keep trying and eventually it goes through. I blame that on AT&T's network. Battery - I only need to charge the battery every two days or less. It all depends on how long and how much you text, make calls and use the internet. Obviously if you do all three a lot, then the battery will be drained often. Look and Feel - It is a finger print magnet, but it is very sleek! I assume it can scratch easily, but I usually never drop my phones and I have a cheap case for it to prevent every day scratches. The back is a burgundy/maroon color so it is kind of girly and so are the wallpapers. The screensaver pops up when you lock your phone, which I wish I can turn off, but oh well. The sensitivity of the touchscreen is fine by me, sometimes I find myself clicking on a link I didn't want, but I just need to get used to it. Interface - The user interface is very intuitive and I had no problems finding my way around it all. There are three home screens you can scroll through (all can have their own wallpapers) and it is a great way to organize the widgets. Only negative things about this phone is that sometimes the person I'm talking to has trouble hearing me sometimes and sometimes the phone freezes up while I'm texting. When it unfreeze, all the letters I put in while frozen comes rushing in. It is a great phone for first time touch screen users and for people who occasionally use the internet. Honestly, just go to the At&t store and see if you like it yourself and try out the internet, texting and other features. I really think you won't be disappointed! Less
