The Galaxy Fold offers a glimpse of the future and will likely only be purchased by those of us who have a smartphone addiction and want to test out the latest and greatest. It’s too expensive, and its flagship tricks aren’t quite life-changing enough to justify the price tag. The Galaxy Fold makes a convincing case for foldable phones, but wait for Samsung and others to fix inherent problems that keep it costly and plague the screen.

But just because you can, should you board the still very-much experimental foldable panel train and Samsung's initial prototype in particular? To find out, we acquired a shiny new Galaxy Fold and geared it up for actual, real-world use as the daily driver for one of the reviewers here at GSMArena.

The Galaxy Fold price will vary depending on retailer, age, special offers and whether or not it's purchased with a service plan. You can compare Samsung Galaxy Fold prices from around the web here on The Informr.

Samsung backs up the Galaxy Fold with a 1 Year parts & labour warranty.

If your Galaxy Fold has problems and is still within its warranty period, you could contact Samsung support or the retailer you purchased the phone from. You'll find Samsung's contact information here. If your phone is off warranty and needs repair for a physical problem such as a broken screen or bad battery, you should visit an authorized service centre or a local phone repair shop. The Galaxy Fold offers a glimpse of the future and will likely only be purchased by those of us who have a smartphone addiction and want to test out the latest and greatest. I love the big screen and think it truly can serve the role of both phone and tablet. With Samsung DeX, it could also serve as a capable home and office computer, so a vision of the future powered by one device may be getting closer and closer to reality.

Wait for the second-gen foldable phone

from Digital Trends

The Samsung Galaxy Fold might have had a turbulent launch, but it’s a strong first step for foldable phones. The $2,000 price still puts the tech out of reach for most people.

Even with its flaws and risks, this phone represents a bonafide technological breakthrough

from USA Today

Though I can't recommend that consumers fold at this price, Samsung deserves kudos for proving smartphone innovation is alive and well. I'm looking forward to the next foldable phone from Samsung, and, for that matter, from other phone makers, which, hopefully, ups the phone's capabilities and reduces sticker shock.

I've been keen on the concept of the Galaxy Fold, and indeed foldable phones as a category for some time. However, the Galaxy Fold's early issues had rather soured me on it as a specific device. The good news here is that Samsung seems to have done a lot of very solid work, because I walked out of my test session with the Galaxy Fold very impressed indeed. This is a premium-priced handset, and then some, but it feels the part. It's pretty tough not to spend some time with one and not walk away wanting one.

My time spent with the Galaxy Fold may have been brief, but it was certainly an interesting experience. The market is saturated with identikit devices at the moment, so it’s rather refreshing to try something completely different from the norm – even if I do think it’s a little bit silly at this early stage. Is this where smartphone design is ultimately headed? Well, I have my reservations at the moment. The Galaxy Fold is functional enough, but I'm not entirely convinced that other manufacturers will follow suit with such a costly design overhaul. I’m willing to make do with my bog-standard rectangular slab of a smartphone for just a little while longer.

The foldable phone still feels fabulous

Yes, there’s still a seam down the middle. Yes, the price is still astronomical. Yes, it’s still the coolest thing to happen to phones since Neo and Morpheus phoned home in The Matrix. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is back: fixed, and finally ready for you.
