Whenever you take a picture or shoot a video with your BlackBerry, it is automatically assigned a file name, such as IMG00054. Such file names have no intuitive relationship to the picture or video and can make searching rather annoying. To save time, whenever you take a picture or video, take a moment to rename it so that you will recognize it later. For example, a picture of my fish tank, if left to BlackBerry, might be IMG0002231. Well, that doesn’t mean anything to me. I’d rather have the name of the picture of my fish tank “FishTank”. Here's how:

  1. 1

    Take a picture.

  2. 2

After taking the picture, you will see a set of transparent selections at the bottom of the display. One of them is titled “Rename”. Click “Rename”.

  3. 3

The current file name will be highlighted. Click “Delete”.

  4. 4

    Type in the new name.

  • These steps work the same for both pictures and videos.
