The main advantage of the new Nokia is probably the design. In terms of functional equipment we can hardly speak of any miracles, especially considering the fact, that the phone lacks certain basic functions, such as the week and the day view in the calendar, the use of ringing melodies for distinguishing the callers or stereophony of the built-in radio.

I dare predict that Nokia 6030 is going to be a successful mobile phone, which many mobile users will probable get to like. Yet, I seriously doubt the success of this phone will be as impressive as the one of the legendary Nokia 3510i or Nokia 3100, which achieved some excellent commercial results at the time. Besides, it may be worth considering the option of paying somewhat 30 euros more and getting rather the 6021 model, which offers an active TFT display, Bluetooth and a better organized calendar.

Pro: Good Value, Ease of Use, Long Talk Time Con: Dust Under Screen My first cell phone was a Nokia. I loved it, but had to change carriers. I scored 5 used, older model Samsung flip/camera phones and they lasted myself and my family the two years of my last contract with another provider. My fam and I now have T-Mobile Fave 5 phones and we all got Nokias. I like the fact that the 6030 is a phone. I have a camera to use as a, well, camera! The 6030 is a great phone. Easy to use and text message on. I've got the keys set up just how I want them, and I use the T-Mobile ringtone. You can download ringtones if you need one beyond their rather limited selection. The one thing that I found the most irritating is the dust that collected under the screen in the first 24 hours that I had the phone. Really annoying! I discovered that you can pry the LCD cover off (it is held on with adhesive) and clean under there. Be sure you have double-sided tape available when you are ready to reinstall the screen cover. A really nice phone. It's a simple, colour screen, speaker enabled phone. I've dropped the phone numerous times and it hasn't affected the performance at all. Texting on this phone is GREAT (as it is with all Nokias and their T9). The keys are quite which is the BEST part, because it makes texting discreet. There are data cables available for this phone, you just have to look. I use the cable with "MobiMB Mobile Media Browser". The only thing you cannot do (or I haven't been successful in) is synchronize with the phone, but you can transfer tones, pictures, themes, etc with the cable. The features in this phone include a calender, calculator, stopwatch, countdown timer and radio. If you want more, you can always install different applications. Pros: - Good size screen - Large numbers on screen when dialing - Speakerphone (loud and clear) - Easy to use menu (can either have the Grid or the List view) and fast - Incoming and outgoing call quality is LOUD and clear - Great battery life (standby is about 4 days with minimal usage) - FM radio - Quite keys - 2.5mm headphone jack (the pop port ones get pulled out more often I've noticed) - Changeable faceplates/covers Cons - The talk, end, and left and right soft keys need to be raised a little bit more or curved in such a way that separates each key of those 4 keys I'll explain what I mean. The left soft key and the talk keys are joined, and the right soft key and end key are the same way. Sometimes you can press the wrong button because there is no separation between them. If they can just come out with a better faceplate that fixes that problem, then it'll solve the problem. I am Nokia fan (from a Nokia 3390, to 6590i, to 3300) and this phone just shows why Nokia is truly one of the best cell phone companies out there. I would recommend this phone anyone looking for simply a phone (not an electronic gadget or a digital camera). Less

Pro: Battery LIfe OK Con: The whole concept and execution This phone is poorly designed and annoying. Some keys one has to push hard to get to function, others one barely touches and they work. Too quiet. Menus are annoying. Lock/Unlock function is necessary or keys activate in the carrying case or when phone is in your pocket as this is not a flip phone. Unlocking the keypad is a hit or miss proposition. Screen layout looks like it was designed by a pre-schooler. Pass this one by and get a flip phone from Motorola or Ericsson. Less

I'm blind so I need a basic phone and I can't afford the expensive software they have for the blind. It has a good speaker phone and by the way it is the first phone that I've had that I was able to access the speaker phone. I've had my phone for two days and I love it already. I'm not really picky about it having all the complicated features and it is also a good basic phone for a first time cell phone owner. I would recomend it to first time buyers because it is simple to use. Less

Pro: stylish design, buttons raised, good screen quality Con: no camera, no voice recorder, feels kind of cheap, down and 2 button too close I got this phone for free when i bought a 100 dollar top up card for t-mobile so i am already really happy about the deal i scored. Anyway, this is a really good phone for someone who doesnt really care about the newest features or style of (although it is a classic). The screen has really good resoloution and and it is really good size compared to the size of the phone itself. The buttons for send, end and the two soft keys at the top are ok. they are not raised, but still feel ok. My phone's right soft key is a little hard to press but i will live. the center button is again, a little hard to press but once again, ill live (as long as it works). the up, down, right, left buttons work fine, the only issue i have is that the down button and the two button are a little close so sometimes i press the two button instead of the down, but this doesnt happen all the time. I really like the number keys. They are raised and easy to press, which makes it all that much easier to type out text messages. The one thing that i think would turn people off is the fact that it has no camera. I have had a camera phone and to tell you the truth, i wasnt too trilled with it. you really only use it for on the spot photo taking and the quality sucks, so you should just go out a buy an actual camera. So i can deal without a camera. Next issue. No recorder. What i used to do in order to avoid spending outrageous amounts of money on a ringtone you have to buy, is record part of a song onto your phone and set it as your ringtone. Sure, the quality isnt as good, but i would prefer $5 in my pocket rather than only part of a song i could record for free. But since this phone doesnt have one, i have to resort to spending money on ringtones if i dont want to listen to ring ring when my phone goes off. So that has been my two cents on the Nokia 6030 and i hope you got some useful information out of it. Less
