The Nokia 5.1 Plus is a good attempt from HMD Global and had a lot going for it, such as the compact form factor, front and back glass design, and Android One software that promises timely software updates. The USB Type-C port is a welcome addition in this price segment. It also offers good battery life. However, the smartphone misses out on the performance aspect. The frequent lags and poor camera performance are a couple of factors that may hold you off.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus does resemble the build-quality and design that we all associate with Nokia. At the beginning of Nokia-android smartphone era, the offerings from HMD Global were a bit overpriced. With the launch of the Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia has stood firm against the competition from Xiaomi, Honor, and Motorola, making a bold statement that the good-looking smartphones with stock Android OS (no bloatware) can be affordable as well.

Attractive design and solid performance at a budget price

HMD hit all the right notes with the Nokia 6.1 Plus by offering an attractive design, a great performance and stock Android One software at Rs 15,999. The company has managed to replicate that with the Nokia 5.1 Plus as well, and that too at a far lower price point, which is great to see.
