What the Critics Are Saying...

Good Gear Guide

The Nokia 1 goes above and beyond what you’d ordinarily expect from a bottom-end, disposable phone like it. Sure, the camera may as well not be there, the battery life leaves something to be desired and the seams occasionally show - but, taken as a showpiece for the potential of Android Oreo: Go Edi...

Regardless of the reason you're looking for a device like the Nokia 1, I can't help but think that you may be better served with an older but more capable second-hand or refurbished smartphone. Those should have a larger and better display, more RAM and storage, and possibly a fingerprint scanner. B...

The Nokia 1 is a good smartphone for those who want an upgrade from a feature phone segment. At a price of Rs. 5,499, it has a pure Android experience, Nokia branding and that’s about it.

Regardless of the reason you're looking for a device like the Nokia 1, I can't help but think that you may be better served with an older but more capable second-hand or refurbished smartphone. Those should have a larger and better display, more RAM and storage, and possibly a fingerprint scanner. But you'll likely have to give up on frequent security updates and the latest Android 8.1 iteration.

The delivery of security updates is a boon that can’t be denied in a day and age where security breaches are reported weekly.

Retro design and performance too

from TechPP

Its intentions may be noble, its design might be delightfully retro, and the brand behind it might be formidable, but the Nokia 1 has definitely got its work cut out if it wants to be your first smartphone.

Android Go has a lot of potential

from Android Central

The Nokia 1 shows that Android Go has a lot of potential, but ultimately it comes down to the price. For around the $100 mark, the Nokia 1 is still a great choice, particularly in Western markets.

Poor performance, mediocre battery life

The biggest issue with the Nokia 1 is the sticker price. Android Go seems to be a work in progress at the moment, and the performance issues are just too substantial to ignore.

It could make for a good kids phone

Android Go Edition is finally here and the Nokia 1 offers Oreo in a very cheap phone that’s got a colourful and fun design. The idea here is good, offering more available storage and data saving apps.
