The "1-Minute" Review

The Motorola W755 replaces the original RAZR franchisee. It is a mid-level phone and continues the very successful “thin flip” concept pioneered by Motorola. If you are looking for a fun flip that has some enhanced features, you’ll want to check out the W755.

Available in black and purple, the W755 is a good looking phone coated in soft-touch paint and silver trim accents. It features a sturdier hinge than prior models, a more thoughtful keypad and an overall improved durability.

The W755 has a humble, monochrome, one-inch external display that is surrounded by five touch-sensitive buttons for music playback, changing between vibrate and audible ringtone and for turning Bluetooth on and off. Users will find these keys very useful as they allow instant access to commonly required tasks. No hunting to turn off your Bluetooth or multiple keystrokes to switch from audible to vibrate.

The internal display is a 170 x 220 pixel resolution supporting up to 65K colors. The alphanumeric keypad features large keys which are easy to interact with and the D-pad rests just above.

The W755 has a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0, a WAP browser for accessing the internet and a 2.5mm jack for headphones. You also get the usual assortment of common phone features, including an alarm, to-do list, customizable options, calendar and calculator.

There have been a plethora of thin flip phones in recent years. The W755 is certainly worth your consideration but keep in mind that other contenders offer better cameras and more enhanced external displays. All things considered, Motorola does continue its tradition of making a competent, thin flip.

I have had this phone for over two years. I purchased this phone through Verizon and also got the the extended battery. I am in the construction business and this phone sees a lot of abuse. I usually get less than one year out of a phone before I destroy it. Not this one. It has a very solid build but still looks decent. Finally, a couple of months ago I fell onto some concrete with the phone in my pocket and the front screen cracked. Still works fine though. Verizon dosen't sell these phones anymore but since I have a bunch of accessories for it and like it so much I am going to find a new one online and should be good for a couple more years. Anyone who is hard on a phone should check it out. Get the extended battery and you'll usually only charge it about twice a week. Less

When I first got this phone I was excited because it's purple, my favorite color. The photos and videos it takes are good for a phone. The phone crashes often when I go to take a picture. Normally just freezes up, and you can't push any buttons or do anything until it restarts itself, refinds the network, etc. The one thing that annoys me that my old phone did that I liked that this one doesn't do, is tell you when your text message box is full when you get a txt message. If I got a txt while my inbox was full, my old phone would tell me I have one waiting and need to empty the inbox. This one just doesn't tell you. I just randomly went into my inbox one day to check. It was full, so i deleted a bunch. A few mins later, about 5 text messages came in at once (old ones). Just the other day, I got a text message and the ringtone wouldn't stop. I pushed the silence button, and that didn't work. Nothing was even on the screen, and the only way I could get it to stop was to shut the phone off the completely. It takes pretty decent photos for a phone, so that's a good point. The battery lasts around 4 days if you don't use it. Signal strength is good and it doesn't drop calls very much. It's a good phone to use as just a phone. I really wish it'd tell you when you have an incoming text message if your inbox was full like my old phone, though. My favorite feature is the fact you can turn it to vibrate and put the ringer back on with the touch of a button on the front, and the front buttons only work if you hit a key on the side first so you don't accidentally use them. It is durable and basic. I love the purple color! I couldn't ask for a more perfect phone. It has Bluetooth and a great media player. The battery life is good. In addition, it has the greatest reception! I can get reception almost anywhere. Like I said before, I wouldn't change anything on this phone because it is absolutely perfect! I would strongly recommend the Motorola w755 phone to anyone; it is perfect for all ages. Less

I got this phone over two years ago and was not hyper to do an upgrade but when the battery started to go bad, I started looking. I do not spend all day online and I don't want a touch screen. That leaves very little to choose from. In the end I bought a new battery and went on my way instead of upgrading. When I lost it going down the street, I went back searching, found it a little scratched up and the front screen cracked but it is still ticking. They don't make it anymore so I guess until they make something that does not require a 30 dollar internet plan I will not use, I will be on the hunt for one on ebay or something. After 2 falls from vehicles on the street, countless kid mishaps, and dropped in the dish water it has one crack and a slight twang in the speaker. Not too bad after all the abuse over the last two and a half years. Less

I got a motorolla RAZR for my 16th birthday. I loved it but I had to replace it on my 18th, not just because I could but because it was my first phone and I was learning how to take care of it, it got a little beat up. I LOVE this phone. I use my phone to txt, take pics, and call, and thats about it. This phone has great free ringtone apps (not that the ringtones are free, but it comes with some great ones anyway). I love it. I treated my first w755 very badly. I dropped it so many times, and I had no trouble with it at all. The only annoying thing is that the voice command button is on the outside of the side of the phone, and it accidentally turns on in my pocket sometimes, and it annoys me. But there are other buttons on the side and I never seem to set them off, so that's good. I was caught in a severe downpour with this phone in my pocket. It got filled with water. I turned it off, dried it off, and when I turned it back on, it still worked. The only problem was that the battery connection was damaged a little, and I had to push the battery back in a little sometimes. Eventually the battery problem got worse, and so I used my upgrade, and got the same phone again! I figured if I had a phone and I dropped it, soaked it, sat on it, and so many other things, and not only did it still work, but it still had excellent call quality, then something is going right. -Heather Less

This phone is a nice-looking solid phone, a great flip phone. The menu system is okay. It has what you need and provides options. I picked this because it was the type I needed: simple and decent. My problem is that the battery life (on the one I have) makes it pretty much unusable for anything but home and it was like that from day one (yes I charged it correctly, also let it drain and recharged). If it sits for two days with no use at all it will usually die and power off. If I have a couple of long conversations (for me about a half-hour) it will be done before the next day. It doesn't look like that is typical though, based on the reviews. I called customer service (Alltel-Verizon seems to have improved a bit in this area, but still not what T-Mobile was) and that went beautifully. Had a new battery in a little more than 1 working day. Same thing happened. They are sending me a new phone now, but customer service did not go as well the second time. This particular person tried to tell me that it was spec. She then went in to how cell phone batteries are small to fit in to the thin cell-phones and can't be expected to last (I try not to be easily offended, but it was tough). This after I explained that I currently had three other lines with cell phones that work great. There was more like this, but suffice it to say that I don't easily get mad at customer service because I know it is just someone trying to do a tough job, but I was pretty irritated. If the new phone solves the problem I'll try to update this. Side note: If you want a decent phone like this (a bit thicker because of military impact spec), but with great battery life, check into the "Samsung Convoy"; read the reviews. I just got it and the battery life is fantastic! Much better than anything else you can find these days. Great phone, too. Only a touch thicker than this one, does everything it does and more. Still thin and small enough to keep in your pocket. Less

I'm not a texter and this is not a texting phone, but for me it was a perfect fit. I even got one for each of my sons and my husband. The only thing I would have changed would have been for them to include a data cord. As it is you can get one on Amazon for about $2. Less

After my old phone died for good, I needed a new phone fast, and purchased this one on a whim. I'll admit, the main reason I bought it was for the looks. It's a great looking product, and it fits in my pocket or purse beautifully. But this phone is TERRIBLE. The battery life is a joke. You will be charging this piece of garbage more than once a week. The reception is awful. I live in a large metropolitan city, and dropped calls are a common issue with the w755. The volume adjustment is stuck. My volume setting has been on 'medium high' for eons. I will go to the menu to manually change it, and yet, it's constantly at 'medium high'. To avoid the embarrassment of my phone loudly going off after receiving a text message, I'll usually keep it on vibrate. The back battery cover doesn't stick. I'll pick up the phone and it will simply fall off. I've had this phone since about June 2008, and it *has* worked alright for me. Sometimes. I've dropped it accidentally a few times, and the screen is still great. The phone takes great pictures, but the lack of a flash boggles me. It's those little issues that amount into one huge headache. Less
