My new "old" RAZR

from Amazon
I have always liked RAZRs so I bought a new one. The phone arrived after about a week and was brand new in a box. It came with a charger, hands free, and other accessories. I was happy. I changed it over to work with US service and it is working great! Keith

Ivan Armas in this 2019 will still be on sale this cell phone model. I would like one, but I have searched and can not find. Could you help me? Thank you.

This is the second Razr I've had - the first was a V3t, and despite all the trouble I had with both models, was a great phone while it lasted, at least for basic text/voice purposes. I never made use of the MP3-player features, apps, or games. Pros: Excellent opportunity for customization - there is no special proprietary USB connector you need, so if you have either the Motorola software or a MicroSD, you can add in whatever images/MP3 ringtones/Java games you want, without having to pay an arm and a leg to the carrier. There's also a great internet community dedicated to hacking the Razr to make it even more customized! Great reception. Incredible battery life (left on for ~7 days straight before having to recharge). 1mp camera is decent for its time, I suppose. In the V3t, creeping dead pixels at the bottom of the screen was a problem due to the constant flipping/closing of the phone, but Motorola seems to have made the V3i more sturdy. Great loud speakerphone too. Cons: Buggy - given, I've had the phone for several years, but for no apparent reason, the firmware has become corrupted (this was before the attempted hacking), and with a phone this old, it's really not worth the cost to fix. I never turn it off now, for fear the boot loader error screen won't let me turn it on again. Extended features of the contact list (i.e. pictures, voice dialing, etc.) are limited to contacts on the phone, not the SIM card, meaning if you want these features you need to transfer everything over to the phone. While the USB connection is generic, the software required to use the phone with the computer is proprietary Motorola software, and a generic drag-and-drop system would have been more friendly. Custom ringtones/wallpapers don't appear to work if stored on the SIM. I didn't use the MP3 player capability, but it required a custom Motorola adapter for headphones, which is really annoying. Less

Have had the RAZR for little more than two weeks. Not what I expected. Pros: Design and screen. The i tune's not bad. Cons: 1. Phone froze first day while playing the itunes. Had to restart the phone. 2. The metal body of the phone zapped me several times (talking real electric shocks here) while using USB cable with the computer. Still scared of plugging the USB. 3. Voice quality on the other end of the call is very poor and low. My 3 year old Samsung and 1 year old moto-L6 had better and louder voice quality. 4. Reception not that great either. Not to mention the dirt and finger prints that gets on the screen so quick just by keeping it in the pocket and making calls. Overall, very dissapointed with the RAZR v3i as a basic phone. Less

Strengths: Bluetooth, microSD, mp3Player Weaknesses: none Using experience: 1 Week I got this phone from cellhut for my FIL (father in law) he had an old Nokia brick phone, I have a Razr v3xx and my wife has a Razr V3m, ordered a Krzr 1 for my brother. I used to dislike the Razr because everybody you see has it, but succumbed to it myself as it has best combination, of price features and looks. v3i: has a good mp3 player, with an add on microSD slot which can store mp3, some of the mp3 may not play (very high bit rate or VBR) Good voice quality. You can install as many games as you want (depending on the amount of space you have on your SD card.) There are 2 mp3 players iTunes and a generic mp3 player, I didn't used the iTunes and instead used the generic one, just drag and drop your mp3 from PC to the folder on sd card. Copying is a bit slow as it is USB 1.1 The songs stop playing when you close the phone, there might be some setting to disable that (my v3xx continues to play even after closing the lid) Less

IMO it exceeded all my expectations in terms of performance and is the best phone that combines style and function. this is the 5th cell phone ive ever owned and the best by far. it has everything that i need (i think i can be classified as your average cell phone user) and is neatly packaged in a slick, (mostly) all metal, slimline flip phone. the RAZR obviously isnt for everyone. you will definitely hear people whine about lack of features(like no video capture) or the price tag. all i know is that im satisfied... until the RAZR with video capture comes out that is... ... Pro: Slim, sleek design Con: Menu is horrible, battery life is terrible I have to honestly say that this is the worst cell phone that I have ever owned. And I have owned quite a few. The menu is not great and it takes too much time to find to figure out where you need to be to perform actions. The address book is the worst. I hate that I have to have a listing for each number for a person in the list. On top of that, I have to be sure to label what number it is, (ie. Jane home, Jane cell, Jane work). I gave up on the iTunes function. Never worked for me. The battery hardly holds a charge and the talk time for the battery is horrible. Definitely needs a great deal of improvement. Everyone I know with a RAZR says the same about the battery. A friend replaced hers twice and she still had the same problem. I was quite excited when I bought this phone six months ago, but it was a huge let down. I will be replacing it this week. Less
