What the Critics Are Saying...

AndroidPIT

Those who look away from the pure benchmark results will soon see: The LG G7 delivers top performance and can hardly be stopped. The throttling seen in the benchmark is not an issue even in the most taxing of current games.

- Hans-Georg Kluge, AndroidPIT
Android Authority

The LG G7 ThinQ comes with some very appealing features that include a Super Bright Display, a dedicated Google Assistant button, DTS:X surround and an incredibly loud speaker. It also comes with a notch which may not appeal to everyone but its powerful specifications and strong feature set make it...

- Lanh Nguyen, Android Authority
Engadget

The LG G7 has a lot going for it. It has beautiful build quality, a gorgeous display with bonus brightness, a dedicated Google Assistant button, 3.5-mm headset jack for old-school audiophiles and an AI-powered camera that takes pretty great photos.

- Nicole Lee, Engadget
ZDNet

There isn't anything super special that stands out about the LG G7 ThinQ, but you could say the same for the latest from Samsung, OnePlus, and some others. The device checks nearly all the boxes though, while providing the best audio experience and a very promising imaging experience.

- Matthew Miller, ZDNet
Cnet

The LG G7 ThinQ is a fine phone, but it does nothing to distinguish itself from more compelling offerings from Samsung, OnePlus and Google.

Bright, loud, and smart

The LG G7 ThinQ comes with some very appealing features that include a Super Bright Display, a dedicated Google Assistant button, DTS:X surround and an incredibly loud speaker. It also comes with a notch which may not appeal to everyone but its powerful specifications and strong feature set make it a worthy contender.

Phone Scoop

Packs an incredible number of features

from Phone Scoop

LG did a great job with the G7, but I'm not sure it did enough to stave off the Galaxies and iPhones that compete with it. The hardware is simple and straightforward in a modernist way that I appreciate. LG's software is almost as overbearing as that of Samsung. The camera software is a bit simpler to use at the expense of features.

Too clever for its own good

from Gizmodo

The G7 is a puzzling phone. LG spent a lot of time trying to get tricky, while somehow overlooking important shortcomings in other areas. The G7 has a nice build, and that Moroccan Blue glass back is simply stunning in the right light. But its AI cam is wonky, its battery is undersized, and its second screen is really just a notch.

A solid flagship competitor

from Pocket-lint

The LG G7 ThinQ tells a flagship story on the spec sheet, hitting a few unique points with an enhanced audio offering, that wide-angle camera and a good level of design and build. There's even a 3.5mm headphone socket.

Pretty much everything you’d expect

from The Next Web

It’s a good looking device that hits the expected 2018 beats, but my first impression is that not much particularly stands out other than the DAC and wide-angle cameras, which aren’t exactly new for LG.

Ars Technica

Sticks pretty close to last year's design, just with a few upgrades

from Ars Technica

The phone feels like an LG G6 with a few upgrades, but it's not a huge change. It seems strange to make to make a phone like the LG G6, complain about the G6's low sales numbers, and then not change all that much for the G7. Maybe pricing information will paint the phone in a more compelling light.
