Just let me say, prior to my blackberry, I had the HTC P4000 which was complete garbage! I have had my blackberry for almost a year. I love everything about it, with the exception that it has no camera and you can't have the calendar pop up on the main screen. Other than that, it is easy to use, the full keyboard is fantastic, and the large screen is easy to read. I have read other reviews that say the battery life is short, especially when you are online alot, but I have to say that I have not had that problem. In fact I am impressed with how long the battery really lasts. The thing I love about it most is that I live in a rural setting, and neither my last phone, nor my husband or daughter's phones would work at our house. My blackberry gets nearly full signal all the time. That is unheard of in our area. I will likely keep this phone until it falls apart from use. Then if they still make it, I will probably try to find it again! Less

The only con to this fine is there is no camera I like taking pics & video of my kids, so this was bit of a downer. But if you are not a picture person or are partial to a digital camera this phone could be for you. I moved to an Instinct which was okay the keys were way to small to type but I missed my Blackberry so much after a few months I purchased the newer version and well Blackberry has done it again!!! I am back with my first love! Get the Sprint Everything Plan and you can't go wrong!!!! Less

Although this particular BlackBerry model is becoming hard-to-find, there are good reasons to choose the 8703 over newer, cuter, smaller models. Basically, why have a BlackBerry if typing is a total hassle? The newer models shrink the keys even smaller, making typing anything more than a brief note painfully arduous. With the 8703, typing even long e-mails is pretty easy. Downside, of course, is that it's a bit bulkier than newer models ... but how much do a few ounces really matter anyway? Do buy an extra battery, though... if this is your first BlackBerry, know that battery life is significantly more limited than with a "traditional" cellphone because the BB is constantly transmitting data. Pro: easy to use Con: battery, bulky, resolution/screen This is my first BB. It is great for email, storing addresses, and general use. When one does a lot of internet browsing or turns on the bluetooth feature, the battery drains quickly. My expereince with support has not been with blackberry directly, but with my carrier, Alltel. When I called for support, I was told " I am in Seattle, and I we don't use these, so I can't help you." The phone is VERY bulky, for the features it has. I cannot see the screen when I am outside in the sun, I assume this is a resolution issue, but don't know. I am shopping for a BB world to replace this one. I will say that this has been dropped various times and my two year old has gotten a hold of it, and it has survived with no problems. It is very durable. Less

Pro: Battery life, qwerty keyboard, feature packed Con: small keys, large phone, not all letters on number keys (for company phone directories) Replaced a Blackberry 7100 with this phone in switching service providers. The qwerty keyboard is nice, but if you are trying to spell someone's name to find their extension on their company directory, you cant always do so as there are only w,e,r,s,d,f,z,x, and c on number keys. Battery life is great. Speakerphone is way too quiet when turned up all the way, which is pushing me into a bluetooth headset. The phone is a bit bulky considering it has no camera. The qwerty keys are great for email. Overall it's "OK-ish". For the money, its less than OK. There's my $.02. Less

The Blackberry 8703e is an excellent model with a slimmed down design. It includes all of the best features of the older and fatter models, including a full QWERTY keyboard (unlike the Blackberry Pearl with its multiple letters per key). This Blackberry can be set up with corporate or personal email accounts very easily, and saves a lot of time when you are trying to keep up while travelling. The screen is well designed and easy to read. Would recommend turning off the bright green light that shows up when you are in wireless range because it is bright enough to be a nightlight and keeps flashing if you leave the Blackberry on at night. The Blackberry's automatic links to Blackberry downloads and the internet make it very easy to add new features, like ringtones, maps and games. The maps feature is highly recommended - really helps out when you are in unfamiliar areas during your travels. The only drawback with a Blackberry is the highly addictive nature of the product. You may find yourself spending lots of time staring at your Blackberry and it can negatively affect your social life when you realize you forgot how to communicate in person. Less

My new 8703e is easy to use now that I've gotten through the setup--transferring data from Palm and my hotmail address book was challenging. Lots of steps and software support needed. The phone quality is great. The wide screen makes reading emails a pleasure. The wider keyboard and buttons are easy to use and to learn about. I also bought a Bluetooth device that makes the hands-free use a pleasure--no cords or wires. Sprint is my carrier; they required a new 2-year contract when I transferred to this phone. Sprint Blackberry technicians also very helpful during setup (you'l need to ask for that help group speficically). Worth it to go through the setup phase--my new business is now completely mobile. I can access emails in places where my hotmail used to be blocked. And, since I'm a business, this is priceless. I was also looking at the Palm Treo. I've used Palm for many years; wanted to avoid the stylus and try to QWERTY keyboard. And, just couldn't be convinced Palm would be as useful for my business. I made the right choice so far! Less
