I loved it. For 6 months.

But then, the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I'd charge it all night long, and less than 15 minutes after I took it out of the charger, it was dead again. Went to the cell phone store to buy a new battery, it would cost more than I paid for the phone. Customer service advised that they couldn't work on it because it was already obsolete. I used it less than 9 months before I had to replace it. Less

Con: Not a color display, charger cord isn't a 2.5mm type plug but rather a flat plug, no digital camera. Using experience: 2 years Basically I really like the phone granted its a couple of years old and all the newer models have surpassed some of its features, but in my case I really just use it for emergencies. But given the choice I would buy another Audiovox but with more features the next time. Less

Using experience: 9 weeks I use mine with Virgin Mobile and I would much rather have this old phone than the 20 dollar ones that are sold at Walmart. If you are interested in an 8500 audiovox.. you can always find them at a wonderful price, I have bought 4,on ebay anywhere from 3 bucks up to 20.. I am very satisfied with mine and so is my husband who is hearing impaired.. this phone rings and has ringtones that are LOUD enough for you to hear! Less

Audiovox 8500

I liek it and all but my keypad doesnt light up anymore and for some reason my text messenging doesnt work anymore either.

Excellent phone

I''ve used this phone for about 2 years. The compact design means it can fit anywhere. I was always able to have this phone with me (unlike previous phones which were sometimes too bulky to bring along everywhere). I like the one-button etiquitte mode, the large amount of info that can be stored for each phone book entry (up to 5 numbers for each person). The downloadable polyphonic ring tones are nice, although newer phones have better sound now. The scheduler with its built-alarm, and tools like the calculator were frequently useful. The only reason I won''t continue to use this phone is because it doesn''t have a camera, and at this point, I need a camera phone for business purposes. Less

I LOVE IT

No games, otherwise its awesome.

I love this phone!

I was surprised to see how many people did not like the Audiovox 8500. I love this phone except for one thing, I can''t mute the ring when i''m getting a call. If I''m in class and my phone rings (although I should have it on etiquette mode) i have to open the phone and hang up on them. I have had t...More

If I''m in class and my phone rings (although I should have it on etiquette mode) i have to open the phone and hang up on them. I have had this phone for about 2 years now. I''m trying to debate on whether or not I should get a new phone or not. The only reason I am considering a new phone is because of my complaint about not being able to mute it when there''s an incoming call. No, there''s no games, but I don''t need that. Yes, sometimes it does have bad reception in areas but so do other cell phones. I find that my battery life is decent. For those of you who buy a ''used'' cell phone, what do you expect?! It''s natural for a battery to start losing it''s life after being recharged so many times, yes, sometimes you''ll have to go out and buy a new battery. They aren''t designed to last forever. Less

worst money I spent

I had a motorola trac fone for 3 yrs and decided to I needed something smaller. If I wasn't in city the phone never picked up the sattilite. Horrible

I have to admit, I do like the fact that it is small but that is about it. The reception was horrible. I didn't even get reception in my house, only in one half of my bedroom, and the living room. It dropped calls like crazy, and forget about the battery life. I was sick of shouting to callers, "my ph...More

It dropped calls like crazy, and forget about the battery life. I was sick of shouting to callers, "my phone is about to die" even if it was charging all night. Bell mobility was no help. I regret buying this phone. The last straw was when I discovered that I have to SCOTCH tape my charger wire to my desk in order for my phone to charge. I was so fustrated that I just switched to Fido. ( Have I gone mad?) Less

Worst phone ever !!!!

Although the phone has some basic features that would be good - they don't always work. I agree with most of the reviews with regards to reception. I have had it in for service 4 times and that is within the 1 year warranty. It worked fine for about 3 months and then things just went bad. Reception...More

I have had it in for service 4 times and that is within the 1 year warranty. It worked fine for about 3 months and then things just went bad. Reception is impossible. What is the point of carrying a cell phone if people can't reach you. I have a Samsung a400 for work and although I don't like it much at least I get a signal in most areas. With the Audiovox you are lucky to get a couple of bars in areas that are normally strong. Save yourself the grief and stay away even if it is FREE. Less
