With it’s 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 2 megapixel camera and a range of apps and services, the Alcatel 3040 is an affordable pay-as-you-go device that attempts to emulate the latest smartphone technology.
While the 260-mhz processor and 128MB of RAM won’t allow for multitasking or other processor intensive tasks, reviews from Usapang Tekno claim that the device works well and is responsive for basic features, such as emailing, texting or checking on your social media accounts.
The screen on the phone features a 320-by-480 pixel resolution. While this is enough for daily use, it’s far from HD. However, reviews state that text is clear and the screen is bright. For added flexibility, a dual-sim model, the 3040D, is available in some markets. A single three-hour charge is stated to yield 8 hours of talk time, 17 hours of music playback and nearly three weeks of standby time.
While the phone is not a cutting edge device, it’s not priced as one. For a starter smartphone, or as a backup for your newer device, the price makes the phone a respectable bargain.
The Good: Affordable pricing, exceptional battery life and support for memory cards.
The Bad: Weak processor, low-resolution display, limited app support and low-resolution camera.

I hate this phone
it's the worst phone I've ever owned you try to text and when you want to put a space it comes up do you want to save or cancel the buttons are too close together can't download anything takes forever to charge one touch just got it as it was an affordable one wish i'd waited and got one that's easy to use thought this one was but I was obviously mislead definetly the worst ever phone to useLess
it just wont connect to my mobile internet, just says this page is too large to load, then it freezes...avoid this.Less
Bought phone and was assured that it is easy to use. The instruction leaflet is useless and the letters on the keyboard on the touch screen are not easy to use unless you have very slim fingers-pressing the letter c produces either A or B etc.One of my friends tried to text me several times and not a single text came through. The other information they don't tell you in the shop is that they keep the top-up when the phone is returned for whatever reason. It has been a waste of time and money.Less
Spend a little more and get ALOT more.
Do not buy this phone if you want to access the internet on the go.It's awfully slow, graphics on the web are clumsey and often doesn't work and you can't download any decent apps. Get the next model up of u really must as that does way more but personally I would go for a more reliable brand.Less
Inbuilt browser doesn't work, downloaded Opera, but you can't add to the display, so have to go through 4 screens to start it. No loaded games. 'Keys' are far too small for accurate texting. No in-call volume control. Standard ringtones are frighteningly bad, ascending ring doesn't work. No volume control for alarm ring. Vibrate is too feeble to be called feeble. Claims 23 days on standby...mine lasted 3..and that's with with wifi and Bluetooth off, made 6 short calls and sent 20 texts. Will only have it as long as it takes me to find another ancient Ericsson 320.Less
this is a cheap smart phoneLess

Good phone with some insufficiencies
This is a good phone. But the insufficiencies are the next: - It can't one turn the screen direction, it has only vertical direction - It hasn't external volume controller, only by software - It has only few grades for volume, not smooth tuning on volume - It has annoyance by media structure (handling folders is a bit uncomfortable) For this price is good as a Wi-fi phone.Less
Amazing phone for the outlay.
I only need a phone it replaces the Phone Box for me. BUT adds the rest of the world at ones finger tips, cool or what Apps and Apps to spare ==yeh !Less
