Has anyone else had a problem receiving calls with the Acura HandsFreeLink paired with a Samsung A870?

I have a Samsung A870 on the telus network and I'm having a problem getting it to work with the handsfreelink in my Acura. The phone pairs no problem and outgoing calls work fine. The problem is with incoming calls. The system recognizes a call and the caller can hear me but I can't hear them. The stereo goes of and the system tells me I have an incoming call but when I answer the stereo comes back on and acts like there is no call even though the line is still open. The system in the car works fine with my blackberry and my wife's motorola so I'm guessing it's the phone and more likely the Telus software since the Acura support line (they really made an effort to troubleshoot this) tells me they have no reported problems with this phone on the verizon network. Telus has been useless and blames Acura.

Any suggestions or similar stories?

If you don't mind me asking, why are you using a Samsung A870 if you have Blackberry and you're wife a Motorola? You're basically using a worst phone then your 2 older phones.

Anyway du322 this may be hard to swallow but it's true, Telus or any other cell phone carriers (Bell, Rogers, Fido, Virgin, etc) have very little technical knowledge regarding the cell phone itself. Since these cell phones are made by cell phone manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, etc, the responsibility of making it work properly comes back to you.

Suck huh? I know I've had troubles in the past with my cell phones and the only support I would get from Rogers or Fido (the only cell phones carriers I've been with) was regarding my monthly plan or billing. If I had any support regarding the cell phone from them, it was for cases that could've been easily solved if I took the time to read the manual carefully (which I didn't want to lol).

Lucky for me, I have a friend that works for Ericsson and he knows how to configure cell phones to their full potential so whenever I'm in a bind with my phone he helps me out. One solution would be to do like me, find a friend that works for a cell phone manufacturer.

But an another one would be to reach the cell phone manufacturer's customer department which is in your case Samsung. Before I met my friend I always called up the cell phone manufacturers and they were much more helpful than the agents working at Fido or Rogers when it comes to the hardware. I called Nokia and Motorola several times and usually I got my answers so maybe Samsung's customer department might be able to get your phone in sync with your Acura in no time or at least give a valid explanation as to why it doesn't work.

Hopefully Samsung's customer department will be more helpful to you.

Happy holidays!
