What's good

  • Loud, clear speakers
  • Good battery life
  • Decent performance with no noticeable lag

What's bad

  • Difficult outdoor viewing
  • Lackluster rear-facing camera

Not to be confused with the Asus Memo Pad FHD 10, the Memo Pad 10 still offers a decent tablet experience for people on a budget in three different colors: white, grey and pink.

Also known as the ME102A, the tablet offers a 10.1" 1280x800 IPS display with 10-point capacitive touch. Indoors, reviewers could easily read the tablet; however the glossy display made it difficult to view the screen outdoors.

A notable feature of the device is the speakers. Located on the front, the dual speakers utilize SonicMaster technology which, according to Asus, allows the tablet to achieve "incredible sound,” which Engadget backs up by saying the speakers were “incredibly loud.”

On paper, the Memo Pad 10’s specs aren’t that impressive: 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and up to 16GB of onboard storage. Although not top-of-the-line specs, reviewers were impressed with the overall speed of the device and did not notice any noticeable lag when opening apps or using them. Asus also uses a reasonably large 5070 mAh battery which, according to the Product Reviews, lasts around 9.5 hours.

As for the camera, most experts agree that it is rather lackluster at 2MP, though it does shoot 720p high-definition video.

In general, most of the reviews are favorable. Although this one won't blow away higher end tablets, Engadget states that it's a "nice-looking slate."

Despite the modest price and reasonable performance, it is sorely lacking in star quality

from PC Pro (4 months ago)

While the Asus Memo Pad HD10’s performance puts it just ahead of its rivals, it doesn’t do quite enough to distinguish itself. For this kind of money, we’d plump for a higher-quality 7in tablet, such as Google's Nexus 7, which offers significantly higher quality than the MeMO Pad for... More
